Rejoice, the King is real

The Bible is an absolutely amazing and unique book.  It reveals God’s will and the existence of His enemy who rules the world.1  He opposes everything that God stands for and influences some people to do the same.  Since Scripture is about reality, not religion, we should see evidence of the war against the Bible in the real world around us.  Let’s look at some examples.

#  Evolution

  • Genesis 1 and Exodus 20:11 state very clearly that God created the heavens and the earth in six twenty-four hour days.
  • It is no revelation that our society opposes supernatural creation in every way.  In schools, at universities, in TV programs like BBC Earth and National Geographic, the message is, ‘Everything evolved over billions of years.’  The evidence is meagre and the scientific value is zero, yet people believe it.  The law even protects evolution in general.  Why is it so important?
  • It dethrones God as Creator and humans made in His image, and closes the way to the eternal Kingdom of God since people accept that the Bible is a fairy tale.

#  The big bang

As part of the evolutionary fairy tale, the big bang is about inflation, the multiverse, dark matter and dark energy – there is no scientific evidence, yet it is said to be science.  Science is about repeated experiments, which cannot be done in the case of cosmology.

Marriage

What about the massive fight against ‘normal’ marriage between a man and a woman?  A man may marry a man, a woman a woman and transgender issues are fine.  Everything seems acceptable, except the normal marriage – it is discriminatory and unhealthy.  PS!  Weren’t those who fight for same sex marriages and other variations born out of a man/woman union?

#  Abortion

Included in the fight against Biblical marriage is the right to abort (kill) babies.  God abhors it, but today one can almost be jailed for saying that.

#  Media

  • There are many web sites, organisations, books and pamphlets that oppose, blaspheme and ridicule God, Jesus and the Bible.  They fuel hatred against Christians and Christianity.
  • They cannot leave the Bible alone, because the enemy of God, the devil, influences them.  He has reason to hate Jesus, because he lost his place in the future new earth through his rebellion.
  • The hostile media hate and revile people like Ken Ham with the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter project.  Why?  If somebody builds a fairy tale museum, there is no opposition.

#  ’Theologians’

Many theologians are ‘traitors.’  They infiltrate the Church and do their best to teach that the Bible is a book you can only believe partially because it is really the work of man, not of God.

Conclusion

These are some examples of the war against God.  A real enemy proves there is a real God.  There is a mastermind who keeps the war against God going.  When you encounter these war efforts, even directed at you, rejoice.  The real enemy proves that God, the King, is real.  This should encourage all followers of Jesus.

Jesus and teachers of the Law

We need Holy Spirit filled theologians who love the Lord and the Word.

Jesus did not have an easy relationship with the teachers of the Law.  It had to do with what they taught and how it might lead people astray.

  • On occasion Jesus said, ’Woe to you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!  You shut the Kingdom of heaven in men’s faces.  You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.’ 1
  • On another occasion Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.’ 2

That brings us to two questions:

  • Do all ‘teachers of the law’ (theologians in our times) fall into the category of Matthew 23:13?
  • Did Jesus mean we don’t need teachers of the Law, or theologians?  No!

#  Some theologians (‘Bible teachers’) do ‘shut the Kingdom of heaven in men’s faces.’

They always criticise and find so-called mistakes in the Bible.  For example,

  • The New Unger’s Bible Dictionary discusses the book of Ezekiel.  The unity and authenticity of this Bible book was not seriously attacked until comparatively recent times.
  • Gustav Hoelscher dissected the book of Ezekiel.  He stated that not much more that one-tenth of it is authentic – only the few rhythmical sections.  He assumed that the prose parts were added by fifth-century authors.
  • Unger mentions more critics and concludes, ‘Criticism of Ezekiel illustrates the wearisome story of negative criticism.’ Criticism is not limited only to the book of Ezekiel, but to all the 66 books of the Bible.

#  We need Holy Spirit filled theologians.

If a theologian is filled with the Holy Spirit, he or she loves the Lord and the Word.  Their enthusiasm for the Kingdom inspires us to study Scripture and to love the Lord.  Teachers of the law who love the Lord are a boon to the Church.

Conclusion

Listen to these wonderful words, ‘For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction, for he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty.’ Jesus made us aware of the enemies of the cross, who masquerade as apostles of the Lord.  The Bible calls them ‘false apostles, deceitful workmen.’ 5  We will do well to be aware of them in 2017.
