Bird’s eye view of Scripture, Part 2

The Logic of the Lord in Scripture

The Bible, God’s Word, is a compendium of 66 books.  Together they form a coherent, comprehensible revelation of God and His Kingdom plan.  Logic goes a long way to help us understand the wonder of Scripture:

  • Nothing makes sense in the Bible except in the light of creation.  If God did not have the power to create the present universe, the new heaven and earth revealed in Revelation 21:1 will never exist.  Then we have no hope of the blessed eternal life with our Father in the New Jerusalem.
  • Nothing makes sense in the Bible except in the light of a flawless Scripture.  If the Bible contains errors, which parts are we supposed to believe?  Then any portion can be a lie.  That means we cannot trust God’s Word.
  • Nothing makes sense in the Bible except in the light of a holy God.  If God is not holy, blameless and without wickedness, then there is no real difference between Him and the devil.  Because God is holy we can trust Him.
  • Nothing makes sense in the Bible except in the light of the Cross.  If Jesus did not open the way to God for us to be reconciled to Him, there is no reason to give attention to the Bible.  The Good News is that Jesus did redeem us.
  • Nothing makes sense in the Bible except in the light of eternity, the New Jerusalem and the new heaven and earth.  If there is no eternal life after death, who cares a hoot about what anyone believes or does now.
  • Nothing makes sense in the Bible except in the light of hell.  If there is no hell, what is the sense of the Gospel of Salvation?  Salvation from what?

Conclusion

With the help of the Holy Spirit, Scripture becomes practical and logical – God’s Good News – available for all who want it.
