Logic and the Bible

The Bible with its 66 books is the only Revelation of the eternal, powerful, Triune God.  It has been around for a very long time.  Yet it does not disappear.  Actually it refuses to become an obsolete museum piece.  For a book, at least 2,000 years old, it is impressive.  That means it is supernatural and must have a supernatural protector.  He is the eternal God.

Without the following ‘elements,’ the Bible would make no sense:

  • Eternal life.  Why would anyone go to the trouble to follow Jesus if only for this life?  According to the Bible, there is an enemy who rules over the world.  He hates God.  He continually attacks, harasses and abuses all people, whether they belong to God or not.  However, if there is no eternity, there is no need to harass people and no need to attack the Bible.  Why?  Then a person merely lives and dies and that is the end.  So the war against the Word is evidence of eternal life with two different destinations.
  • Creation in six days.  If God did not create the heavens and the earth in six days, then there is nothing to look forward to.  God promises a new heaven and a new earth when He destroys this one.  Yet that is impossible if God is not the omnipotent Creator.  Some people believe the universe and our solar system evolved over billions of years.  If that is true we will have to wait trillions of years for the next, new, completely different heaven and earth to ‘evolve.’  This universe of atoms/elements will, according to the Bible, be burned up and replaced with eternal features.  The desperate attempts to convince every one that the universe is the result of mindless unplanned events, is evidence there is a new heaven and earth coming for God’s followers.

The eternal God will make sure we His faithful, called, chosen followers will be with Him on the new earth, in the New Jerusalem.

Why do we do what God does?

Some people think the Bible is an illogical, unrealistic book that has no connection to real life. That No prisonsmight be true for some, but we have a very interesting question. Why does the world at large imitate what the Bible tells us about God?

In God’s future Kingdom there will  be no murderers, liars, swindlers and other criminals.1 It is interesting that ordinary citizens usually protect themselves as far as possible form dangerous criminals. Which is why most countries have a police force and justice department.  So it seems as if God is not so strange after all that He will exclude ‘criminals’ from His eternal heaven and earth.

In most countries criminals are put behind bars. Isn’t it cruel, vindictive and demeaning to those poor people? No, citizens are glad when murderers, drug lords and those that endanger society, receive just punishment. So why do people denounce God’s justice system? They accuse God of being ‘cruel’ because He intends to lock the rebels behind bars (in hell) in the coming age.

World peace, peace in a country, society, city, suburb and in a family, is what everybody longs for. It is exactly what God plans. However, what happens when God outlines His plans to accomplish it? Boy oh boy, they can’t stop shouting at Him for being stupid. The world is at war (with rivers of blood in some countries), yet it shouts down the Prince of Peace, while it longs for peace. Crazy, isn’t it?

Imagine a country where all people obey the laws and the leader. What a glorious country it will be: no protests and rebellions, but peace, contentment and each person who is happily going about his business. That is precisely what God plans. Despite that, some people still think that God is a cosmic tyrant because He insists that the Leader must be loved, and obeyed when He speaks.

Some claim that it is unfair of God to elect people for eternal life. Yet we do the same. Not all the candidates get entrance into university, the army, jobs, sports teams et cetera. Why do we sidetrack some, and apply selection criteria? The only difference with God is that He welcomes anybody who wants to join His ‘Company,’ but He forces nobody.

There is a worldwide movement to get rid of God. Maybe it will be a good idea for critics to begin at home. Endeavour to free all criminals, abolish the police force and run the country without laws and a judicial system. Anti-God activists should practice what they preach. Get rid of the constitution of the country and see what it is like.

The judiciary longs to reform criminals. God has a proven plan to transform ‘criminals,’ (which we all are or were). It is called The Jesus Transformation Act.  It guarantees results.  Maybe it is time for those who denounce the Bible, to learn more about it.
