Question 5: Is God and evolution compatible?

To answer the question, one has to compare creation with evolution.Creation vs evolution

  • God created in six twenty-four hour days, by speaking. It was completely supernatural. God had a purpose, namely the eventual, eternal Kingdom. It testified about an all powerful God, who made humans in His image.
  • Evolution is the exact opposite. It happened by chance, over millions and billions of years.  The whole process was by chance. In other words, it had no purpose or goal. No explanation is ever given why those chance events happened. They just happened.

The important question is, why would God have used evolution? Why would God use a process that expressly declares that He is redundant, not needed and superfluous? Evolution was designed to get rid of God, ‘Darwin pointed out that no supernatural creator was needed; since natural selection could account for any known form of life, there was no room for a supernatural agency in its evolution…. We can dismiss entirely all idea of a supernatural overriding mind being responsible for the evolutionary process.1

Why would an all powerful God use a process that no one has proven can generate complexity?  Natural selection can only select what there is. If some ape-like ancestor did not have the genes for speech, how can natural selection choose for it? It cannot. Natural selection does not have the ‘creative’ ability that evolutionists bestow on it.

Creation by God requires unlimited power, wisdom, insight and intelligence. What does evolution require? Absolutely nothing. Nothing as in nothing. Things just evolved or appeared naturally, by chance. It needed no strong creative arm, least of all God’s.

Evolution nullifies God’s unlimited power. Then miracles are impossible. Where would miracles come from, except from the all powerful Creator God? No creation simply means nobody can believe anything in the Bible. To be born of a virgin is a miracle, but not more miraculous than the design of the DNA genetic recipes and then the creation of the various organisms and plants.

The Bible tells us about the Creator God. If people imagine that He is not the Creator God of Genesis 1, but somebody who used evolution to create over billions of years, not six days, then logically it is somebody else they have in mind. It is nothing strange in the world of God that people devise and design other gods. It has been around since the devil infiltrated the earth.

The Bible is our guide. It is either true, or not. Combining two irreconcilable opposites (creation and evolution) is bound to generate confusion and eventually loss of faith.  ‘Christians’ want to import some strange philosophy or false religion into the Bible, and combine the two. 2

Conclusion

The Creator God could not have used an impossible process, like evolution, that has never been proven and has no support from science.

Can evolution and creation by God be mixed?

In the Church there are teachers, lecturers, pastors and lay people who accept that evolution is science. HS inspired Bible, not DarwinSo, for them, Almighty God used evolution to create in six days (sorry, 600 million or more years). Can supernatural creation and natural evolution be mixed together?

To answer the question, let’s consult the expert in evolution, Francis Ayala who said, It was Darwin’s greatest accomplishment to show that the complex organisation and functionality of living beings can be explained as the result of a natural process – natural selection – without any need to resort to a Creator or other external agent…. The scientific account of these events does not necessitate recourse to a preordained plan, whether imprinted from the beginning or through successive interventions by an omniscient and almighty Designer….1

The title of his essay, Darwin’s Greatest Discovery: Design without a designer, says it all: there was no need for the Creator God. End of discussion. Natural selection (the creative ‘arm’ of evolution) happens naturally. It needs no assistance from God. In addition, evolution has no goal and no purpose. It just happened. It is the complete opposite of God, who designed the heavens and the earth for a reason, for a purpose, for an eternal Kingdom.

Now that we know Darwin banished God, why do some believers claim that God used evolution? The Bible is very clear, Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.2 People in the church believe that God used evolution (even if they are incompatible) because of the persistent propaganda of evolutionists. They label people who oppose evolution as science deniers and backwoodsmen.

The truth is the opposite. There is a paucity of proof for evolution. One rejects science if you believe evolution and then become a backwoodsman. As we will discuss in subsequent blogs, it is important to be aware of the facts of creation and evolution when you belong to a church. God says in Jeremiah 23:1, ‘Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture,’ declares the Lord. In a sense, we are all pastors and teachers. We should be careful not to lead the flock astray.

God has an enemy, the devil. He influences anybody willing to listen to his lies. One of his favourite questions to deceive people is, ‘Did God really create in six days?’ To mix God and evolution is not a solution. It is an insult to the omnipotent Creator. There is a price to pay for insulting God, If anyone is ashamed of Me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.3

Jesus affirmed that God is the Creator. ‘Haven’t you read,’ He replied, ‘that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female.…’ 4 Actually, Jesus Himself was the Creator.5

Conclusion
There is no compromise possible between the Creator God and Darwin. Darwin excluded God as Creator. Evolution destroys God’s omnipotence.

Question: What do you think?

How Darwin’s tree of life might help you overcome God’s tree of life

Charles Darwin drew a diagram of a ‘tree’ in his book, On the Origin of Species (1859).
Darwin's tree of lifeIt famously illustrates the process of evolution. A tree grows from seed. So the seed of Darwin’s tree was the first living organism. From it all the other life forms like microbes, plants, fish, birds, mammals, et cetera, evolved.

The Bible first mentions the Tree of Life in Genesis 3:22. The Lord said, ‘The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live for ever.…’  We next read about the Tree of Life in the last chapter of Revelation. On each side of the river stood the tree of life…. in the New Jerusalem.1

Darwin did not discuss the beginning of life (the seed of the tree) in his book. Later he speculated that life could have begun in some warm little pond. How do evolutionists today explain the beginning of life?

One way is the famous Miller-Urey experiment of 1953. Stanley Miller did the experiment to prove that life evolved from dead elements. It produced a few chemical substances, but there is a chasm wider than the Grand Canyon between dead and living atoms or elements. To take a few elements and believe that a living organism will pop out of it, is a fairy tale. Yet this experiment is still included in almost all biology textbooks.3

In the same year, 1953, Watson and Crick discovered the structure of DNA (the carrier of genetic information). It revolutionised the understanding of living organisms: no life can exist without the genetic ‘instruction manual.’  A few substances heated in a test tube, like the Miller Urey experiment, cannot produce life (this is where science becomes the enemy of evolution).

DNA resides in the very small nucleus of each living cell. It is like a written code, with a decoder included. Human experience tells us that a code, like computer language, does not evolve by itself. It needs someone to design and write it. Even if we accept the fallacious idea that we evolved from some common ancestor around 6 million years ago, there is no evidence that the very complicated DNA code can evolve.

What does this mean for evolution? Where did the seed for Darwin’s tree of life come from and who wrote its ‘instructions?’ Scientists are hard at work to find a solution. The search is on, the problem of first life must be solved, but they won’t concede that life comes from God. Anything goes, except the Creator.

People started looking up. Not to the Creator, but to the stars. They realised: the answer is in the planets.5  Many people look to the stars for guidance, so why can’t the planets guide us to the solution of first life? The problem has not yet been solved, but fear not, the planets will have the answer.  In the meantime, just believe that evolution is true. After all, logical, reasonable people have no problem to believe, by faith, that Darwin was right.

Question:  Evolutionists believe only in matter. DNA is is not matter, but information, so it is non-material.6  What are the chances that Darwin’s tree of life will help you overcome God’s tree of life?
