Christian hypocrites

Have you ever heard the complaint from people who have left the church and are not interestedNo hypocrites in serving Jesus: there are too many hypocrites 1 in the church? That might be true, but it is difficult to know how they determined it.

However, the important point is, will hypocrites in the church, be with Jesus on the new earth? The Bible gives no guarantee if a person claims to be a Christian, that he is a Christian. A Christian is someone who obeys the greatest command Jesus gave, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 2

God has a test to sift hypocrites from those who love Him:

  • Have you ever seen a young couple in love? It is so obvious that they care for each other, think of each other, and want to be in each other’s company. A person who loves the Lord wants to spend time with Him in His Word and prayer.
  • God knew how difficult it is to grasp what love is, so He gave us an easy definition, ‘This is love for God: to obey His commands.’ 3  Easy, isn’t it? There are many verses in the Bible that clearly teach that ‘once saved, always saved’ is not true. Action is the key, not pretending.
  • Jesus amplified it with the following verse, ‘Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter, and will not be able to.’ 4  It takes effort to love and obey God, so we need the Holy Spirit’s help.

In the two verses we see that God has a test to screen out hypocrites. There is no guarantee that a hypocrite will be saved automatically.

The person who rejects God’s grace and mercy, because he doesn’t want to share the church pew with a hypocrite, is dumb. He puts himself at risk to be in the company of hypocrites for eternity: away from God, but near, very near hypocrites.

Sometimes people don’t think rationally. They opt for an easy solution to avoid meeting Jesus in a kind of Damascus road experience (Jesus met Paul so dramatically that Paul fell from his horse and was blind for three days). 5 They imagine, to accuse people in the church that they are hypocrites, is clever. It isn’t. They might spend eternity with the hypocrites who did not succeed in fooling Jesus.

3 Reasons God doesn’t condone homosexuality

The controversy about same sex marriages is a lingering issue in the Church. Trinity and familySome churches have no objection if a person claims to love Jesus when he or she is in a same sex relationship. Other churches do not condone it. It is not for us to judge, but we want to look at why God seems to be against homosexuality? Why doesn’t He change His standards when gay people profess to be Christians?

It is interesting that God created the family: man, woman and children. This principle of the family impacts three areas of Bible theology.

  1. The Trinity is like a family. The Bible reveals God as, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has functions like a mother. We are born again through the Spirit and He comforts, teaches, helps and guides the children of God. The Trinity is foundational, they are eternal and it makes absolute sense in God’s revelation.
  2. God is depicted as the Husband of His wife, Israel.1 God will never divorce her and He was very upset about her immorality (worshipping other gods).
  3. Jesus is the Bridegroom2 and the Church is the Bride.3  In Ephesians 5:22-32 the husband-wife relationship is compared to the Jesus-Church relationship. A man will leave his father and mother and become united to his wife, so that they become one flesh. The Jesus-Church relationship also works in the same way. It is what Paul calls a profound mystery.4  In 2 Corinthians 11:2 we read, ‘I promised you to one Husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to Him.’

This means, if we change the husband-wife picture, we change the Trinity, God-Israel and Jesus-Church pictures. That will cause major adjustments in the theology of the Bible. Is God going to do it? It doesn’t look like it, since Jesus said, ‘…Scripture cannot be broken.’ 5

Who are the people who will not inherit the Kingdom of God unless they are forgiven and changed by the Holy Spirit?  The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexual offenders, greedy, drunkards, slanderers, swindlers, thieves, murderers, liars.6  Most of these people do not put continual pressure on the Church to condone their behaviour. They realise that their actions are wrong and that they will miss the Kingdom if they do not change. It is the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender), group who pressurise the Church to condone their behaviour.

Our conclusion

The pressure on the Church to accept homosexuality, is not so much to condone what God has decided is wrong. The reason the devil wants to make the LGBT group very prominent, is because it has to do with major theological principles. It is to change the fundamental structure of the Bible. He wants the Church to compromise the character of the Trinity and the Gospel by changing the man-woman marriage picture. If you denounce the Trinity, the structure of the Bible and God’s dealings with people have to change, but God is not going to change one iota of Scripture.

Has the resurrection hoax finally been exposed?

If there is one thing that the enemies of the Bible agree on, it is that the resurrection of Ascension of resurrected JesusJesus is a hoax  (compare Shermer, Harrison, Dawkins, et cetera). According to them, there is no evidence that the crucified Jesus ever rose from the dead.

However, this dismissal does what atheists do not intend it to do. It provides strong evidence that the resurrection is true. According to them, Jesus doesn’t exist, because He is a myth like Zeus, Horus and all the other mythical gods. Yet they make no effort to prove that Zeus or Dionysius are myths. If Jesus is a myth like them, why is He treated differently? Why are reams of books, pamphlets, documentaries and other mediums produced everyday to prove that Jesus doesn’t exist?

Let us assume that Jesus was crucified, but not resurrected. What would have happened?  Would His disciples have gone around telling the world that Jesus was crucified and he is dead, but people must believe that He died in their place to forgive their sins? Not at all. The Gospel of good news is that Jesus was resurrected and He ascended to go and prepare a place for us in God’s Kingdom. If Jesus died and remained dead like any other person, then the hope He gave people died with Him. The disciples would have declared that Jesus was a hoax, who did not accomplish what God promised.

If Jesus was just a hoax, nobody would have spread the message. What message would there have been to spread? The Gospel hinges on the resurrection.1 That is why the Gospel spread over all continents and why the Church came into existence. The Church of Jesus is evidence that the resurrection is true.

Conclusion: The battle to prove that the Bible is a myth, is to prove that the resurrection of Jesus never happened. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, His followers have no hope that they will live with Him eternally. Without the hope of eternal life, the Gospel has no good message to spread. Atheists do us a favour with their war against the Word. They prove they fight against a real, resurrected Jesus. So we can safely accept that the Bible and the resurrection of Jesus is true.
