Are we feeding our children to the roaring lion?

During the persecution of Christians by the Roman emperors, notably Nero, Decius and Diocletian, many were killed by wild beasts and in other ways.  The accounts vary and are sometimes overestimated, but one cannot deny that it happened.

In Ecclesiastes 1:9 we read, ‘There is nothing new under the sun.’  So, today we see the same kind of war and persecution of Christians. It is not the Roman emperors that literally feed Christians to the lions. It is atheists, New Atheists, evolutionists and humanists who do everything they can to deprive Christians of their faith in God and the Bible. Their caesars are people like Richard Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss and others. They are powerful, influential and aggressive against those who follow Jesus.

One area of the war is very important for Christian parents because it has to do with our children. They grow up and leave their protective environment. Today it spells ‘Danger.’ The situation is grave, ‘Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.’ 1 Who are the easiest prey? The unsuspecting, and in many cases the ill equipped young adults of trusting Christian parents.

It is not difficult to discern the lion. He comes clothed in many garbs, like ‘theologians,’ atheists, evolutionists and many others. Their work can be described as Bible Bashing. It sounds like fun, but it is not. It is extremely dangerous for whoever succumbs to it.

Are our children prepared for the onslaught where the weapons of the devil are directed at young people? If our children are not equipped to give a reasonable account of their faith, their spiritual ‘death’ is almost guaranteed. It is like sending soldiers to war without training.

We should never forget that we live in alien country. The ruler of this world (the devil) does not love Bible believers, neither do his followers. Make no mistake, there is a concerted effort to change our children from sweet Lord loving kiddies, into hardened atheists who are not amused by the Bible, church, or what their parents think. In many cases they become hardened beyond repair.

What is the solution? The Bible tells us, ‘Resist him, standing firm in the faith….’ What does it mean to ‘stand firm in the faith?’ It means teach youngsters the basics of the faith in Jesus Christ. Let them understand the long term plan of God: to gather citizens for His future Planet of Peace.

The main question is whether we realise how serious the issue, and how valuable the Bible is? Please don’t sacrifice your kids to the roaring lion. There are many resources available to those who love and care about their children. Take action!
