What should our attitude be towards God,
‘And now, O (own name), what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.’ Deuteronomy 10:12-13
Jesus emphasized it,
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all of your strength.’ Mark 12:30
In their 2,000 year selected history recorded in the Old Testament, the Israelites could not obey and observe that command consistently.
The New Testament reveals the eternal covenant in Christ’s blood. By His grace Jesus fulfilled the commands perfectly and He was punished for our disobedience. After Jesus’ ascension God sends the Holy Spirit to be with and in His children to love God through them. Glory!
The reason why we need to love and obey God is: God is busy with the establishment of His Kingdom. When it is finalized it will be an eternal Kingdom. So God takes every precaution to ensure it will be a success. History and the Bible reveals how important it is that citizens love their leader. Nations throughout history have been plagued by the problem of little or no love for the leaders. That results in unhappy, disgruntled citizens. They disobey the laws, riot, form opposition or terrorist groups, et cetera – often with the aim of toppling the government. Then the next cycle of disgruntled citizens begins.
God’s eternal Kingdom will be a roaring success. Why? There will be nobody who does not love Him passionately. No-one. God’s Kingdom is eternal. God does not take chances with anybody who does not love Him. As said, history demonstrates the logic of the Lord. An eternal Kingdom requires all the citizens to love the King.
