Fighting the fight

An invisible war began in the Garden of Eden.  God had commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  A serpent inquired from Eve,

”Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?'” Genesis 3:1

We know that serpents are not interested in the diet of human beings.  The Bible reveals that it was Satan who spoke through the serpent.  Revelation 12:9

That is where the war against God’s Word began.  It has never stopped.  Only when Satan is finally cast in hell will we be free from it.  On this side of the grave our ‘normal’ is the evil one’s attacks on our belief in God’s precious true Word.  He has only one goal: please don’t think God speaks the truth.

The problem is, God does speak the truth.  It is a tragedy when people believe the devil’s lies, because it leads to destruction – eternal destruction.  That is why the devil is so persistent with his attacks on all God’s followers.

Jesus teaches,

‘Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.’  Ephesians 6:12

Bad things happen because bad evil beings attack us.  However, God does not leave us powerless.  We can be victorious when we use His weapons and His authority.  See Ephesians 6:13-18; Luke 10:19

Jesus is the eternal Victor.  If we persevere and fight, we will, one day, be with Him in eternal peace and harmony.  There are no battles to fight.  We fight them here on earth.

As you can see in the photo, there are two of us. We live and work together 24/7, studying and enjoying our grandchildren. Our passion is to know and understand what will happen after death. Is there a way to provide for and invest in that?

  1. This is a discussion we don’t have enough of. I like the figurative perception of the word ‘darkness’ when referred to or implying evil. It speaks of there being no knowledge, or ignorance, or even stupidity.
If Adam and Eve had any knowledge of who God was at the time of there temptation, they would have used the words Jesus used when he was tempted by the Devil, saying, “Get behind me Satan, it is written…”
Another interesting fact is that if they had any knowlede of good and evil, they also would have told the Devil to get lost, knowing he was out of line. It seems like they needed the ability to discern good from evil.
Another interesting bit to ponder, the Devil knew that Adam and Eve would be as God if they ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. We know this because that was the reason why Adam and Eve had to leave Eden.
    Makes you wonder hey 🙂
I also wonder if the reason for having to die if they ate of the fruit was because of their defiance of God, or because of the effect of knowing good and evil. I sometimes wonder if this was not why man became self righteous.
Oh my, the subject is so deep.
    Blessings

  2. I really enjoyed your comments. Teaches me new things. Thanks. Think we should address the result of the eating. I was taught that the original Hebrew is, ‘In dying you shall die.’ Meaning both a physical and eternal death. Blessings, and thanks again.
