The invisible wall around the Bible

In the old days many cities had walls around them for security and protection against enemies.  Some of those ancient walls still stand.  The 66 books of the Bible also have a ‘wall’ around them.  The ‘wall’ around the Bible has the same function of security and protection for the believers in the Word of God.  That means the Bible is protected against additions or subtractions.

  • ‘Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.’  Deuteronomy 4:2
  • ‘Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.  Do not add to His words, or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar.’  Proverbs 30:5-6

God gave us a sure Word.  We don’t need to doubt it.  But, again, don’t add to it.  Why?  At the end of this age there will be a judgment.  It will be based on what we did on earth.  What we did will be based on God’s Word.  So it is necessary, whether someone lived in 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000 AD, the same Word (standard) will apply.  Otherwise people might complain they did not have all the necessary information.  So in His sovereignty, God surrounded the Bible with a wall that makes entrance or exit of information impossible.  Many have tried over the years to add books like the Apocrypha, or take out books like some of Paul’s letters, or the the second letter of Peter, or whatever.  Despite that, the Bible is still 66 books, the Authoritative Word of God.

The last book of the Bible, Revelation, similarly has a stern warning,

‘I warn anyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.  And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.’  Revelation 22:18-19

For those who doubt that the Bible is the 66 books, good advice is to notice how  the devil treats them.  He hates God, is the ruler of the world and does everything he can to oppose the whole Bible.  Why?  It is because he knows it is the Word of God, a Word of Truth that leads to eternal life.  He missed it and he is on his way to eternal death.  That is why he hates it if people find out that the Bible contains the message that leads to eternal peace and harmony with the Triune God.

The protective hand of the Lord (an invisible wall) is around the 66 books of the Bible.  Only those books were included for God to achieve His purpose to lead us to the tree of life.  They are reliable and true.

As you can see in the photo, there are two of us. We live and work together 24/7, studying and enjoying our grandchildren. Our passion is to know and understand what will happen after death. Is there a way to provide for and invest in that?

  1. In defence of God (His Word) we (as men still influenced by the flesh) tend to revert to the operating principles of the flesh, that threatens by fear, those who don’t believe by the spirit of the law of Moses, that was powerless against the flesh. Rom 8.

We only tend to feed the flames of rebellion, and then wonder why. Jesus fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law for ALL mankind.
He removed the law of sin and death. We are not judged for our sin. We are judged by the extent to which we have been transformed by the Word and Spirit into His image.

An example of this we see when Jesus did not judge the woman accused of adultry, John 8. She did’nt even say the sinners prayer.
It’s the goodness of God that leads to repentance. Mercy triumphs over judgment 🙂
