Jesus, the beginning and the end

The Bible covers Jesus’ life from before the beginning of creation, right into eternity.  As God the Father talked to Jesus and told Him what to say,1 so the Old Testament ‘talked’ to Jesus and told Him what would happen to Him.

#  The Old Testament Scriptures reveal the life of Jesus.

  • Sometimes we might be inclined to neglect the Old Testament.  Yet Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, never doubted the truth and accuracy of the Old Testament that predicted His suffering and Resurrection.  Think about Isaiah 52:13-15; 53.  The last verse of Isaiah 53 sums it up, ‘For He bore the sins of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.’
  • When Judas Iscariot led the crowd, sent from the chief priests and the elders, to arrest Him, Jesus said, ’But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?’ 2

#  The New Testament Scriptures reveal Jesus as,

The Word of God

  • John 1:1-2 explains that Jesus was around before Creation, ‘In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.’   Notice the emphasis that He was with God in the beginning.
  • 2 Timothy 1:9 repeats it, ‘This grace [from God] was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.’  Time began with creation.
  • Revelation 19:13 again reveals Jesus as the ‘Word of God.’

The Lamb of God

The Living Word of God is also called the ‘Lamb of God.’  1 Peter 1:18-19 says, ‘For you know it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ a Lamb without blemish or defect.’  He was our Passover Lamb.

Eternally on His Throne

In the final scene before the ‘billions of years’ commence (not that there will be time then), we see God on His throne with His beloved Son at His right hand also on His throne, ‘…the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city.’ 3

Conclusion

Jesus is the Beginning and the End.  Truly miraculous!

As you can see in the photo, there are two of us. We live and work together 24/7, studying and enjoying our grandchildren. Our passion is to know and understand what will happen after death. Is there a way to provide for and invest in that?

  1. Jesus was only 203 years ago born, though you do if he lived already for millions of years. Bible tells us clearly he as the promised one of God came into being after the Power of God had placed his beginning or origin in the womb of a young girl. When that Word of God came into the flesh he had to learn everything. It was a great help that he was brought up in an Essene family, so that he grew up with the Word of God from the Scrolls. also by giving himself in the Hands of god the Spirit was with Him at all times.

You seem to overlook that Jesus is the beginning of the new world, there where the salvation of mankind is a reality and the relationship with God being restored..

    1. Scripture is the only source of information about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit. Obviously Jesus makes the Kingdom of God possible, since He reconciled us to God by His blood shed on the Cross. He destroyed the enmity in our minds towards God. Thanks for your comment. Blessings.

      1. Yes “Scripture is the only source of information about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit.” and therefore we should follow the Bible and its teachings or words about God and God his only begotten son.

That Jesus put his own will at the side to do the Will of his heavenly Father is what we should respect, and therefore we should show our thankfulness by giving the honour for giving himself as a ransom for God, and not nullifying his offer by making him god or God, but by honouring his God, the Only One True God of Israel.

  2. It is still marvelous that through forgiveness of sins, Jesus can build a nation, God’s very own. How remarkable that God’s intention is a people of His own, as in 2 Corinthians 6:16b, ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.’ We have reason to honor God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit who all work together for this purpose. Thanks for your comment. Have a good day!

  3. John 1:1 does not say Jesus was before the creation. The Word of God (God His speaking or God His uttering Voice) was with God. Jesus who came into existence only a few 2000 years ago was (like you and many others) already mentioned in the Book of life, but was also promised in the Garden of Eden, to the first human beings.

Jesus is the beginning of the new creation, but also the provider of salvation for all and as such also the new beginning for all who went before him. for all people he is also the end, because at his return he shall be judging the living and the dead, allowing them or not letting them to enter the Kingdom of God.
