Jesus is the Word of God

Revelation 19:13 says ‘…his (Jesus Christ’s) name is the Word of God.’ That means, when we read the Bible, it is Jesus who speaks to us.

Revelation 19:13 says ‘…his (Jesus Christ’s) name is the Word of God.’  That means, when we read the Bible, it is Jesus who speaks to us.  God doesn’t lie, so we know it is true. Let us look at three examples:

#  It takes effort to enter

Someone asked Jesus, ‘Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?’ 2  His answer was clear, ‘Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.’ 3  How do we make that effort?  The effort has to do with how we handle Scripture, because it is the key to enter the Kingdom.

#  Do we gather or scatter?

Jesus said, ‘‘He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.’ 4  How do we gather?  Gather has to do with how we see Scripture.  Is it the inspired wonderful Word of God, or just a book?  The one who gathers will not be shy to tell people about God’s Life Giving Book.

#  Do we acknowledge or disown?

Jesus said, ‘Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.  But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.’ 5  Are we ashamed of what the Bible (Jesus) teaches?  Then He will be ashamed of us.  When we are willing to acknowledge that what Scripture teaches, leads to eternal life, Jesus will acknowledge us before   His Father.

#  Why are the sayings of Jesus important?

Jesus warns us in the Bible that there is someone walking around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour.  He is the devil, the murderer.  Whether we like it or not, we live in enemy territory.  The enemy harasses us and attempts to shipwreck our faith.  He influences people to lead honest seekers of the Lord astray.  We have to be on our guard.  And it boils down to the Word.  Jesus is the Word of God.  We cannot separate the two.

Conclusion

The important aspect for faithful followers of Jesus is to realise every day how wonderful it is that God speaks to us through Scripture.  It is such a treasure.  That is why the devil tries his best to keep us away from the Bible.  We should be on our guard not to let go of that precious gift because some ‘scholar’ claims that this or that is wrong with Scripture.

As you can see in the photo, there are two of us. We live and work together 24/7, studying and enjoying our grandchildren. Our passion is to know and understand what will happen after death. Is there a way to provide for and invest in that?
