Is Jesus real?

CrucifixionWhether Jesus was, or is, real and walked the streets of Jerusalem, has kept people busy through the ages. It is especially true for those who don’t like Jesus. It would have been interesting to know how many books have been written through the ages to prove that Jesus is fiction?

Ellen Johnson, president of American Atheists, summarised the Christ-myth view on CNN TV Larry King Live: There is not one shred of secular evidence there ever was a Jesus Christ…. Jesus is a compilation from other gods…who had the same origins, the same death as the mythological Jesus Christ.’ The stunned host replied, ‘So you don’t believe there was a Jesus Christ?’ Johnson fired back, ‘There was not…there is no secular evidence that Jesus Christ ever existed.1

The interesting thing is that those who claim Jesus is fictional, say they investigated the matter thoroughly. It would be a big task to resolve the issue today. Yet there is a short cut that can help. John 1:3, Colossians 2:16 and Hebrews 1:2-3 teach that  Jesus was the Creator. That means He created the heavens and the earth (the universe, our solar system and life on this planet).

The scientifically minded will disagree, but instead of discussing all the various technical issues of creation, we want to ask one simple question: where did life on earth come from?  Richard Dawkins answers it beautifully: ‘We have no evidence about what the first step in making life was.…’ He is the high priest of atheism, a biologist who is well trained and believes evolution, but he cannot cite evidence for the origin of life. He is not the only one.

In preparation for a 2014 conference in Japan (called “Open Questions on the Origin of Life”), research biologist P. L. Luisi wrote: ‘The scientific question about the origin of life is still unanswered: it is still one of the great mysteries that science is facing…. Which conceptual progress have we made…? Is it too much to say that we didn’t really make any, if we look at data under really and honest prebiotic conditions? Adding that this situation is not due to shortage of means and finances in the field—but to a real lack or difficulty to conceive conceptually how this nonliving-living passage really took place?’ 3

Has modern science solved the problem? No! The devil’s efforts to prove that Jesus is a mirage, are always bound to fail on closer inspection. We only have to look to science, the supposedly new ‘creator god’ to find out that it has never been proven how life evolved. So Jesus as the Creator stands tall, despite the strenuous efforts of all the researchers.

The critics who maintain that Jesus is a myth cannot prove the origin of life. This is only one of the many things about life they cannot answer. All it tells us is that Jesus is alive and well and preparing for the second creation, the final one, the glorious eternal reign of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Ps. The efforts to prove that Jesus is not real have their origin in the mind of the devil. He is a sore loser and will spend eternity in the lake of burning sulphur. He doesn’t love Jesus, so we cannot get an honest account from him about the Creator.

As you can see in the photo, there are two of us. We live and work together 24/7, studying and enjoying our grandchildren. Our passion is to know and understand what will happen after death. Is there a way to provide for and invest in that?
