An interesting accusation is that people organised the writing of the Bible books. That means they (and we) have to struggle very hard to cling to our Scriptures and try to get people to believe them. It boils down to the ‘product of man, not of God’ idea. It would have been a plausible explanation, except for one thing. Why would people ‘write’ a book that makes life quite ‘uncomfortable’ for those who believe it?
Let us look at a few aspects of what this supposedly ‘human’ designed book teaches. Logically people ought to write books to make life easier and more comfortable. So listen to this ‘moonshine and roses’ message of Paul, ‘We must go through many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.’ 1 Isn’t that a nice message! People write a book, believe it, and then find out that there is nothing about a gondola ride to fun and ease, in it. Many hardships!
What about this verse, ‘Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and not be able to.’ 2 Goodness, if one doesn’t take the book seriously and exert yourself, you might be in danger of landing in hell. That is a good one. You write a book and then the book ‘backfires’ because you yourself don’t make it. Which sane person would write a book that might shoot him in the foot?
The believer is supposed to study the Word of God, pray, attend church, help the poor, help in the church, et cetera. Nice, huh? It takes time. It is time that you could have spent indulging your own fancies.
If people ‘organised’ to get the Bible written, then it was a very dumb lot of people. Listen to this, ‘Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.’ 3 Quite an order. Which human on this planet could have thought of such a difficult requirement to search for the narrow road.
Worse yet, those who believe the Bible will be persecuted for their faith, ‘Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.’ 4 This is almost the cherry on the cake. People design a book, believe it and are then despised. That must be the height of folly.
Conclusion
Only if one is really dumb would you design a book that ‘backfires.’ It is not how people think. We want it nice and easy. The only conclusion we can come to is that an outside Extraterrestrial omnipotent Being designed the Bible.
