If there is one thing that is very apparent, it is that the world is at war. It is not the Third World War, but the World War against the Word. Why?
It is easy to understand. We read in Titus 1:1-2 about, ‘…the faith …and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness – a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life….’ What it says is that faith (from the Bible) and knowledge (from the Bible) lead to eternal life (with God on the renewed earth).
That means the Bible is the Guide or Map to the restored Garden of Eden, the new heavens and earth. Without the Bible, we don’t have a Guide.
Someone apart from the Trinity also knows that the Word is the Map to God’s eternal destination. He is the devil, a Bible ‘scholar.’ He knows that Revelation 21:8 says, ‘…all liars – their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulphur.’
Scripture is the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God. God is its real Author. The devil knows that if there are lies in the Bible, God will be in the fiery lake of burning sulphur. Then there cannot be eternal life with God on a gloriously renewed earth. So if the Bible is filled with errors, why would the devil attack the Guide to eternal life?
Satan knows it is impossible for God to lie. He knows Scripture is true and without error. Yet he desperately wants to lead people to his eternal destination, hell. So he influences them to war against the Word. There are numerous books, blogs, websites and other media that send the message that the Bible has many errors and contradictions. They try to convince people, that the Bible is just a human book; that it is not true that there is a life after death which they need to prepare for.
The devil uses the principle of yeast that spreads through dough. Sow a little bit of doubt about the Bible. It will spread and people will reject God’s words and follow the devil’s lead. It worked with Adam and Eve and it still works today.
The sad thing is that people believe these agents of the devil and seal their eternal damnation. That is the tragedy of this global, fierce, terrifying, destructive, merciless war. The advice of Scripture is very apt, ‘But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit…. Be merciful to those who doubt, snatch others from the fire, and save them.’ 1
